Transfers to the apartment at Joao Pessoa or the plantation at Conde: We can arrange for you to be met at the airport and transferred to/from the apartment or the plantation. Alternatively you could hire a car but just be aware that driving in Brazil (like anywhere abroad) takes a little adjusting to!

Passports & Visas: You must have at least six months left on your passport before the expiry date to travel to Brazil. From the UK there is no requirement for any Visa. This is not the case from other countries including the USA, so please check first, depending on where you are travelling from.

Money: The currency is REAL (R$) or if you are Brazilian Reais. You can exchange English money at the airport money exchanges or elsewhere at international banks/money exchanges. It is easiest to take money out at the bank by debit card.

Vaccinations and medication: Please check with your doctor for advice on what is best, but the Northeast of Brazil does not have malaria, although there are mosquitos.

Medical and other insurance: Please ensure you have adequate insurance. Brazil has very good medical facilities and dental facilities should you need them.

Language: The Brazilians speak Portuguese and many of the younger Brazilians speak some English. It may be helpful to bring a phrase book, and try and learn a few words, such as wine and beer!
