In Brazil there is as little or as much as you would like to do. Have a relaxed and peaceful time, or party with the Brazilians, who seem to have a zest for life we can only be envious of.
Beaches: From a sunset walk along the beach to a buggy ride along several near deserted beaches, from lunching on the beachside cafes to swimming in tropical waters, you can do it all. There are so many beaches in the North East of Brazil and particularly stunning ones near Joao Pessoa, including Cabo Branco, Tabatinga, Coqueirinho, Jacuma and the famous nudist beach of Tambaba.

Cities: Joao Pessoa is the third oldest city in Brazil, an
d is one of the country's best kept secrets. A local landmark called Ponta do Seixas is the easternmost point of the Americas, and the city is also considered "the second greenest city in the world". The city has more than 7 square kilometres of forested land, losing only to Paris.
The city is characterised by the juxtaposition of tropical beaches, modern architecture and historic buildings from colonial periods. It also has an airport, which may expand to take flights from the UK in the future.
Other nearby cities include Recife to the south and Natal to the North, both have international airports.
Villages: Conde is the nearest village to the plantation and is about 30 minutes drive from Joao Pessoa. It is a vibrant and lively place, with a school, church, market and local shops. There are many traditional villages and towns close by and inbetween are lush tropical areas and beaches of unbelievable beauty.

Guided Tours: Nivaldo is one of our contacts in Brazil and he can advise you of places of interest to visit and as an accredited English Speaking Tourist Guide born in the area is an ideal person to arrange your trips and take you on guided tours.
Eating & Drinking: The bars and restaurants stay open until late and there are some nearby clubs that stay open even later! The food in the small beach cafes and restaurants is very good value and all food is very fresh.

Eating out: There are many local restaurants minutes away from the apartment, choose a different one every night if you wish! There are some sophisticated restaurants but we recommend trying the ones where you sit out by the beach. The fish and meat are very good and the prices are unbelievable.
Drinking: Drinking plenty of water is a must in Brazil. Bottled water is recommended, although much of the water in Brazil is from mineral water sources and is very pure. Beer is extremely good value and as in all warm countries seems to be the major alcoholic drink, although wine (Brazilian and other South American wines such as Chilean and Argentinian) and spirits are also readily available.
Swimming & Sports: The swimming is divine on this coast, the water is beautifully warm and clear, and the swimming is safe. From surfing and kite surfing to diving and snokelling there are many water sports to accommodate every interest.
The Brazilians regularly play football and volleyball on the beaches, and this is good to watch! Also you can often see displays of Capoeira (the Brazilian fight dance/martial art) so if you get the opportunity go and see this as it is really special.

Alternatively like the Brazilians, get up at the crack of dawn and do speed walking or jogging beside the beach!!
Carnival: There are music or dancing carnivals all over Brazil (they are renown for knowing how to party!) so if you are lucky enough to be around at carnival time go along, you will be made most welcome and have a really fun time.
